Create Art Carnival Exhibition

A showcase of local established and emerging artists celebrating the theme of Carnival - ‘art imbues life’. The exhibition includes the inaugural mentorship of a young artist in Gresford, Zac Watts Wright. Zacis a stencil artist and this is a great opportunity to encourage a new talent. Entertainment on the opening night will be supplied by Gresford public school’s renowned ensemble. Tours at 11am & 2 pm, and devenshire teas available on 8th.

Opening night 5:30pm, Anglican Hall, Church St, Gresford. Sunday 10am to 4pm.

“An Eclectic Review” Opening

This exhibition is by Estelle Asmodelle who has been painting abstract pieces and working with photography since 1978.

“Pixels on Paper” Maeve Vella and “Wire. Feathers. Rock”

This is Maeve’s 3rd show of digital art, since being introduced to computer graphics in 1999. Leanne’s exhibition follows on from the successful sticky tape installations last year. Runs until the 21st December. Launch 23rd November, 2pm with sausage sizzle.

Octapod Zine Drop In Arvo

Weekly zine making afternoon at Octapod. Do you make zines, or would you like to? Would you like to make zines with others, or work on your own projects with some company? Newcastle Printmakers Workshops

The Newcastle Printmakers are running a number of workshops during the remainder of 2008. If you would like to learn more about printmaking, then book yourself into the following workshops and spend the day creatively with other artists.

Create Artists' Books with Pauline Tickner. To book please contact Pauline on 4943 1738. This workshop will be held on Saturday 18 October from 10am - 4pm.

Linocut with Samantha Powell. A good introduction to printmaking. To book please contact Sam on 4969 3095. This workshop will be held on Saturday 25 October from 10am - 4pm.

Honours Exhibition

The graduating Bachelor of Fine Arts Honours year for 2008 have embraced a curatorial rationale which represents themselves as individual practitioners as well as part of a collective whole - six artists over three spaces.

Cultural STOMP Planning Meeting

Hi All,

So what do you think, shall we get this party started?

Please come along to the Pod next Wednesday November 19 from 6 pm to talk about next years event on June 6 (to coincide with World Environment Day June 5) 

With the theme of "Be the Change" there is a lot of scope to make a special event in 2009.

Of course we need people to commit their time, ideas and energies to the process of creating the STOMP and to changing the social and cultural face of Newcastle.

I will send out my report of this years event later in the week so that you can come to the meeting with great ideas to refine and enhance the organisation of the event.

Devised by TANTRUM junior members in collaboration with professional theatre artists BULLIES, WANNABIES AND DORKS presents an honest and comical look at the social pecking order of young people’s lives. Through the development of stories and characters straight from the battlefield that is the school yard, BULLIES, WANNABIES AND DORKS will open up the age old dramas around peer pressure and bullying and explore the terrifying new phenomenon of cyber bulling. Embark on a journey through the slings and arrows of growing up in a world full of BULLIES, WANNABIES AND DORKS.
