CultureHunter Kids Mascot Design Competition

In order to help celebrate the launch of CultureHunter Kids, the brand new section of CultureHunter dedicated to child-friendly events and activities, CultureHunter invites school children throughout the Hunter Region to design a mascot that will be used to promote CultureHunter Kids.

Community Heritage Grants

The program provides grant funding of up to $15 000 for preservation projects, and preservation and collection management training through community based workshops.

Country Arts Support Program (CASP)

Small grants of up to $3,000 for arts and cultural projects in NSW happening between 1 April and 31 March 2010. For an application form and guidelines please visit www.regionalartsnsw.com.au and select grants or call Arts Upper Hunter and we can post you a copy.

Assistant, Muswellbrook Regional Arts Centre

Muswellbrook Shire Council is seeking to appoint a Casual Assistant with the Muswellbrook Reginal Arts Centre. The person in mind will be energetic and motivated, possess excellent communication skills, and be keen to take on a variety of customer service, administration and manual duties.

The Loft Youth Venue School Holiday Program

The Loft Youth Venue has announced their School Holiday Program. Offering such events and workshops as: Aerosol Art Classes, Design for Ceramics, Radio Production & Podcastingf, Circus Skills, Breakdancintg 101, Self Defence and even a popcorn and pizza night, the Loft is sure to cater for any young people busting for something to do over the summer.

All activities are free for Youth Venue members. All registrations for workshops must be in at least 2 days prior to the workshop date so remember to book and secure your position.

She who Discovers

This is an annual competition for female artists to exhibit contemporay art works in celebration of International Women’s Day. Work can be two or three dimensional and can be created in any medium. Winners will receive exhibitions at sponsored galleries.

Application fee $10, if accepted, exhibition fee $45.

Black Dog Institute 5th Annual Writing Competition

The Black Dog Institute seeks essays from people in the workplace who have clinical depression or bipolar disorder, and also from their family, friends, workmates, supervisors and managers to share their experiences.

The topic this year is: Mood Disorders in the Workplace.

Prize pool of $3500.

2009 Sydney Royal Easter Show Art Competition

The Sydney Royal Arts Show brings together a broad range of arts including: painting, pottery, sculpture, silverwork, felting, photography, mosaic etc.

Max Kelly Medal

The Max Kelly Medal was established by the History Council of NSW to encourage students and other beginning historians in the writing of Australian history from original material. Prize includes $500.

Dungog Film Festival Submissions for 2009

The Dungog Film Festival is dedicated to promoting  local films and filmmakers. The festival will be held 28-31 May 2009.

They accept completed shorts, features, documentaries, animations on film and digital. They also accept works in progress for narrativefeatures only and for documentaries at 50mins.
