The Lock-up Cultural Centre Artist in Residency Program 2009

'Capture An Aussie Icon' Competition

DWELLING a video installation by Alexis Destoop

"Dwelling" is the first exhibition in Australia by Alexis De Stoop, an internationally renowned Belgium video artist.

The work is a 2 channel video installation on landscape and place Constructed from animated photographs, the foreground and background are distinct separate parts working on both the pictorial and cinematic levels. The imagery consists of six different sequences that form an open narrative taking us from sparse open landscapes into fragile interiors.

2009 International Biennial of Media Art

Experimenta will be commissioning new works for up to $6,000 each to be included in their exhibition of exceptional Australian and international media artworks. Successful proposals for the commissions will respond to the exhibition theme, Expermentopia, and engage audiences, use technology creatively, and can be audio/visual, installation, or object-based.
