Carnivale

Summer Carnivale fever kicks off this weekend at the Brewery.

Ushering in the festival of fun are two groovy acts, Pablo Discobar and The Martini Club.

The Martini Club have been busy laying down tracks for their new EP, due for release in February next year. They hinted people could expect to hear a soul band with a "V8 engine under its hood" when the band makes its harbourside debut.

"We made our recording sessions coincide with gigs to capture our high-energy, Latino sounds"

Meanwhile, Melbourne groove masters, Pablo Discobar, will also be at hand to help you get into the swing of summer early with floor-thumping grooves and hip-swinging moves.

The Hurricane Chippers at Lass O Gowrie

Newcastle based foursome The Hurricane Chippers will launch its CD this Saturday night at the Lass O Gowrie Hotel.

And it's going to be a big night for punters. It's free entry and everyone who turns up will receive a free copy of the CD, which includes The Hurricane Chippers first film clip, The Others.

The band has been playing regularly around Newcastle since June 2007 and has played twice at the Secluded Sundays in Sydney.

The gig is also a special night as it's Rob Tickner's last gig with the band.

With James Weakley on rhythm guitar and vocals, Craig Macguire on lead guitar, Nathan Baker on lead vocals and drums and Tickner on bass, it's definately a gig to get along to.
