The Lock-up Cultural Centre Artist in Residency Program 2009

APPLICATIONS CLOSE SEPTEMBER 30TH

The Lock-up invites artists working across all disciplines to take up residency in Newcastle for three to four weeks starting January 2009. The vision of the program is to give artists the opportunity to explore new forms of expression relevant to the Newcastle Region and the unique qualities of the Lock-up. The 2008 Mortimore Prize

“Art in the Vines” Opening Night

Now into it’s ninth year, Art in the Vines is a judged exhibition of art work in the following areas: Paintings, Pottery, Sculpture, Australian Indigenous works, Photography as well as a children section. The show attracts around 250 exhibitors from across NSW. Will be open till the 14th September.

Aboriginal Stories and Crafts

A celebration of NAIDOC week, with special guest Denise Hedges from Ungooroo Aboriginal Corportation and local artist Debbie Chambers. Enjoy stories, dot painting and puppet making. Free. Singleton Public Library, 8-10 Queen St. 2 sessions 10 to 11am and 12noon to 1pm. Booking required. 65787500.

Gloucester Art Trail

3 weekends, 24 venues in Stroud, Gloucester, Barrington, Copeland and Dyers Crossing, the Gloucester Art Trail will showcase the diverse artistic talents of our region featuring photography, sculpture, painting, porcelain, ceramics, fine furniture, floral art and indigenous art.
