Book Fair at Newcastle Community Arts Centre

Thousands of secondhand books including modern fiction, childrens, literature, cooking and gardening, humanities etc. A great range for all readers, collectors and resellers.
All at two dollars each.
Opens Friday evening at 6pm on the 28th November 2008.
Runs Saturday and Sunday from 9-5pm

Hunter Writers Centre

The Hunter Writers Centre was established in 1995 and incorporated in 1998 as a resource centre for writers in Newcastle and the Hunter Region. 

We support our membership via workshops, a regular newsletter, brokering mentorships and by providing a meeting space for writing groups. In addition the HWC administers a number of community and cultural development projects throughout the year and coordinates the annual Newcastle Poetry Prize.

30th CONDA Awards

This year is the 30th anniversary of the City Of Newcastle Drama Awards (CONDAs).

They are now the longest continuously running theatre awards in the country.

Art Sounds

Art Sounds is a new and innovative performance program linking Newcastle City Council (Newcastle Region Art Gallery, Newcastle Region Library and the Loft Youth Venue), the Octapod Association, Hunter TAFE and the University of Newcastle.  ABC 1233 Newcastle will also provide media support for the program.  It aims to create a cultural buzz in the precinct through the presentation of a monthly art and music event hosted by each of the participating venues from February to June, and if further funding is achieved, to November 2009.  Art Sounds events will take place on a pre selected Friday evening once a month and showcase a cross-section of local music genres and performers.

Twilight Markets & Carols in the Park

With a variety of guest artists from the region performing a selection of christmas songs and lead the carols. Bring the family with a picnic or enjoy the BBQ to support Broke Rural Fire Brigade.

Santa will arrive

with gifts for the kids!

Books, Bric-a-brac, local produce,gifts and bargins.

CD Launch and Gig

Six young bands from Muswellbrook, Cessnock, & Port Stephens have recorded a compilation CD of their own music. The CD will be launched at a gig at the Singleton Youth Venue. Singleton bands Long Story Short and Smoke Stack will be on stage and are hosting
