A public art playground featuring curved walls with port holes is the winning design for a new recreation area in Worth Place Park on the foreshore at Honeysuckle.

Member for Newcastle Jodi Mckay has announced Zenscapes and Milne Stonehouse artists had won the national design competition to create a playground in the park.

The park is part of the Lee Wharf development project and will feature over 2000m2 of public open space.

Ms Mckay said that when Lee Wharf Stage 3 is complete mid-2009 retail shops, offices, cafes and resteraunts would open onto the park and playground, making it a great destination for families.
